Much scholarship has been written about the advent of photography and its affect on painting. In this group of images, we see artworks that look like paintings but are actually digital photographs. They are individually printed and mounted on wooden stretcher bars by hand. The same type of canvas employed by painters is used. However, it is not the artist that does this but a professional printing center. |

"We must expect great innovations to transform the entire technique of the arts, thereby affecting artistic invention itself and perhaps even bringing about an amazing change in our very notion of art." -Paul Valéry |
| There are three components to these works: the photographer (who takes the image and e-mails it to the gallery); the gallery (or website) that selects and displays the work; and the printer who creates the physical object you see. Many times, the artist did not originally intend for their work to be used in this way. As artwork is submitted from around the world, the photographer may never see the finished product. |

| Many questions then arise: Is this "Art"? What about "Fine Art"? "Conceptual Art"? Perhaps merely "decorative art"? Does it matter what we call it at all? | All of the proceeds from the sale of artworks in this exhibition go to support the Genocide Intervention Fund: www.genocideinterventionfund.org |
